We devised three stages to our redesign of TR Action. Firstly, the print quality needed to be vastly improved to create a more luxurious publication, increasing value. Secondly, the content had to be more accessible and engaging for TR enthusiasts. Thirdly, the design required an overhaul to attract and retain new readership.
Using our knowledge of print processes, we have assisted the Register in finding suitable print suppliers which has allowed TR Register to take the magazine to a full colour publication and actually reduce production costs.
The extra budget was funneled into design time and the Bate team focused on creating a more dynamic, engaging design promoting new sections to encourage members to get involved. This also attracted more high quality advertising.
With members supplying more content, the Bate team and Editor were able to cherry pick articles and raise the value of the content so it was accessible and interesting for their whole target audience. Nicky Bate also took on the sub-editor role to continue developing the quality of content. Today, the Register is now in the enviable position of publishing regular top quality content that is freely supplied by members in each issue.
